A Message from the Director:
This will be my first year directing the Nevers' Band and I am excited to join an organization with such a rich history. The band dates all the way back to the civil war and has had a number of very distinguished members over the years, including world renowned composer John Adams. I am proud to be a part of this tradition. We are making a few changes to the band this year. Instrumentation has been expanded to approximately forty members. Most notably, this includes the addition of double reeds and an expanded four member horn section. Our programs will continue to offer a variety of summer POPS material. We have John Williams and Broadway themed performances planned. We will also be putting a new focus on a small number of very demanding classical compositions. This season we will be working on John Adams' "A Short Ride in a Fast Machine", a complete transcription of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture", and a number of works by Percy Grainger. We will be featuring a number of outstanding guest conductors this year, including Southern New Hampshire University band director David Bresnahan and University of New Hampshire band director Andrew Boysen. The 2010 Nevers' band is off to a great start. We look forward to providing the greater Concord area with an exciting, educational and enjoyable season. Rick Cook, Director
